Dodson International Parts, Inc. partnered with KC Web Specialists to redesign and modernize their website with a clean, professional layout and advanced search functionality. As a global supplier of aircraft engines, APUs, and aviation components, Dodson needed a website that not only represented their reputation for quality and reliability but also integrated seamlessly with their extensive parts database of more than 20 million components.

Redesigning for a Modern, User-Friendly Web Experience

Dodson’s previous website served its purpose but lacked the contemporary design, structure, and search flexibility needed to support their growing business. Working closely with the client, our team created a modern, responsive design that communicates professionalism and technical expertise while maintaining ease of use for visitors searching for specific parts.

The new homepage highlights featured products, key service categories, and clear calls to action that guide users toward the site’s primary functions: searching for parts and submitting quote requests. The design strikes a balance between visual appeal and utility, ensuring that content loads efficiently while remaining accessible across all devices.

Featured Parts and SEO Integration

To strengthen online visibility and improve SEO performance, we created a custom post type within WordPress for featured parts. This allowed the client to showcase specific engines, APUs, and other high-demand components directly on the website with accompanying images, technical details, and optimized keywords. Each individual part page includes a dedicated quote request form that automatically populates the relevant part number — improving conversion efficiency and minimizing user effort.

This structure not only enhances the browsing experience but also allows Dodson to capture more targeted search traffic for specific product names and part types, an essential component of their ongoing digital marketing strategy.

Connecting WordPress to a Massive External Database

A major objective of this project was enabling users to search across Dodson’s full inventory without overwhelming the WordPress system. To accomplish this, we collaborated with the client’s database team to integrate the website’s native search functionality with Dodson’s proprietary external parts database, which houses over 20 million records.

The resulting solution offers a two-level search experience:

• The first layer allows users to browse featured, SEO-optimized parts directly on the site.

• The second connects to the full external database for comprehensive searches.

If a user doesn’t find what they need on the main site, the system automatically displays the full database search. Those results are displayed in a custom layout designed to maintain visual consistency with the rest of the website.

Request-a-Quote Automation

To streamline the quote process, we built an advanced Request a Quote system using Gravity Forms. Users performing a full database search can select multiple parts using checkboxes and then click “Request a Quote for Checked Items.” The system automatically collects all selected part numbers and passes them into the quote form for submission.

Similarly, when viewing individual featured part pages, users can submit a request for that part directly, with the form auto-filling the corresponding part number. This automation simplifies user interaction and ensures Dodson’s sales team receives accurate, organized inquiries ready for follow-up.

Collaboration and Development

Built on WordPress using the Beaver Builder framework, the site combines flexibility with scalability. We worked closely with Dodson’s team throughout development, refining the search integration, user flow, and form functionality to ensure that both the technical and marketing goals were achieved.

The integration of the custom post type, SEO-optimized featured parts, and external search system demonstrates how thoughtful development can merge design, usability, and large-scale data integration within a cohesive platform.

Result

The finished website successfully brings together modern aesthetics, intuitive functionality, and complex database connectivity. Visitors can quickly locate the information or part they need, while search engines can properly index featured inventory for better organic reach.
