Free Kansas City Website
ADA Compliance Accessibility Evaluation

  • Is your Website ADA Compliant?
  • Free initial website accessibility evaluation.
  • There is no pressure and no one-click sales pitch.
  • The goal is to help you understand where your website may need attention.

Everyone should want their Website to be more accessible for people with disabilities. Period!

What Will the Free Evaluation Tell Me?

The evaluation provides an initial look at selected pages and common accessibility concerns. Depending on the website, we may review:

  • Keyboard access to menus, buttons, and forms

  • Page headings and content order

  • Image alternative text

  • Text and background contrast

  • Form labels and error instructions

  • Link and button wording

  • Video captions or transcripts

  • Mobile and zoom behavior

We will explain the most important findings and identify a sensible starting point.

See how we applied WCAG 2.1 AA Standards to our own KC Web Specialists, LLC Website.

What Is Not Included?

The free evaluation is not a full-site WCAG audit, legal opinion, certification, or promise that a website complies with every applicable law.

Automated testing can identify some problems. It cannot evaluate every user experience. The U.S. Department of Justice recommends combining automated checks with manual review. Read the DOJ's guidance on web accessibility and the ADA.

If the initial review shows that deeper testing is appropriate, we will explain the scope before any paid work begins.

Why Website Accessibility Matters

An inaccessible website can prevent someone from:

  • Learning what your business offers

  • Requesting an estimate

  • Scheduling an appointment

  • Completing a purchase

  • Reading instructions

  • Applying for a job

  • Contacting your team

Accessibility is about removing those barriers. It also makes many websites easier to use for older adults, people with temporary injuries, mobile users, and customers in difficult viewing or listening conditions.

For a practical overview, read ADA website accessibility guidance for Kansas City businesses.

What Is WCAG 2.2 Level AA?

The Web Content Accessibility Guidelines are technical recommendations created by the World Wide Web Consortium. WCAG 2.2 organizes accessibility around four principles: content should be perceivable, operable, understandable, and robust.

KC Web Specialists uses WCAG 2.2 Level AA as the core technical guide for accessibility improvement work. It gives our team clear criteria for testing and repairs. WCAG conformance and ADA compliance are related, but they are not identical legal claims.

Review the official W3C explanation of WCAG 2.2.

Common Barriers We Find

Many local business websites contain problems that are easy to miss during normal editing:

  • Important images with missing or unhelpful alt text

  • Menus that require a mouse

  • Form fields without clear labels

  • Low-contrast text

  • Links labeled only “click here”

  • Videos without accurate captions

  • Pop-ups that trap keyboard focus

  • Headings used for appearance instead of structure

  • PDFs that screen readers cannot use

Can a Plugin or Overlay Fix Everything?

No. A plugin may provide helpful controls or correct a narrow problem. It cannot reliably repair every issue in the content, navigation, forms, documents, design, and source code.

A stronger approach combines automated scanning, informed manual testing, source-level repairs, and ongoing review.

What Happens After I Submit the Form?

  1. We review the website address and basic information you provide.

  2. We examine selected pages for likely accessibility barriers.

  3. We explain the findings without burying you in technical language.

  4. If you want help, we outline practical priorities and possible remediation work.

  5. You decide whether to move forward.

Submitting the form does not obligate you to purchase a service.

Everyone on the team at KC Web Specialists is skilled, caring, responsive and responsible. They did an awesome job creating our website (gcath.org) and answered probably 1,000 questions we had. They helped us stick to a reasonable time line to get this done, and were very patient with us as we figured out the various elements and functions we needed and wanted for our site. It's a comfort knowing they are not fading into the background now, but will be available for training and support moving forward as we need them. Pick this team for your next website need.
Response from the owner:Thank you Suzette. Being the Web design and SEO answer folks is what makes us happy 🙂 Glad the timeline worked for you all and look forward to being your ongoing local Website development support team. Thanks again.
