How To Blog With A Purpose In 2017

How many Kansas City business owners out there have said to themselves throughout 2016, “I need to be blogging more”?

I think we’ve all been there at one point or another. Blogging is something we all know we’re probably supposed to be doing, but we somehow, year after year we fail to “consistently” blog.

So what’s going to make 2017 different?

I propose that, like other things in life, setting blogging goals are important, but more importantly, as it relates to blogs, we need to reaffirm the “purpose” of why we’re blogging.   Maybe it’s even more basic than reaffirm. Maybe you’ve never really defined the “purpose” of your blog.

To start 2017, consider again, or for the first time, what is the “purpose” of your blog?

To help you out with this, although I welcome additional ideas, I put forth there are two primary purposes for a Business blog. (please share more if you have them)

1. The information you are providing on your blog will be of value to the reader and thus increase your businesses reputation, standing, value and credibility with the consumer.
2. Google is telling us, for Kansas City SEO purposes, we should be providing fresh new content to our potential customers on a regular basis. One of the easiest ways to do this is to blog.

Anything we can do to make our businesses more credible to the consumer is of course valuable and we should make every effort to do so.

Anything we can do to convince Google our business is valuable to the consumer is of course valuable (thus ranking us higher in a Google search result screen) and we should make every effort to do so.

So in 2017, as you remember “I should be blogging more this new year”.  Stop, take a few minutes and reflect on what is the purpose of your blog, and remember the two primary reasons business should blog. Hopefully, this will motivate you to blog more in 2017.
