July 15th Weekly Development Meeting

Sean and I discussed the blogs for KC Web and how he wants to write at least a couple a month about new sites and what we did special on the site. I suggested Johnny’s Tavern since it went live yesterday and I discussed with him the special features I setup for the menu and locations. I also gave him a couple other new sites that have gone live recently.

We discussed the idea of bringing back the client portfolio to the company site. Sean suggested that maybe it be a new task for the developer to enter the site into the client portfolio when they make the site live, this way the site always has the latest websites. Concerns about making sure we don’t have too many of the same type of designs shown in the portfolio was brought up. We don’t want to come off as a company that will just give you a cookie cutter looking site.

Responsive mega menus were also talked about. I told him about the plugin we plan to use for Conception Abbey. He brought up that Bootstrap does have mega menu abilities, but I pointed out that currently we don’t know how we’d make that work with the WordPress menu system. We can easily setup the mega menu as an HTML but having it function and work with the WordPress menu system is the part that the plugin will play a role in. I suggested that once we have the plugin and use it on this site, he and I can dig through the code and hopefully figure out how we could make the regular Bootstrap mega menu code work with the WP menu structure so we don’t have to use a plugin.
